Child protection

We are committed to the safety and dignity of children in every community where we work. Personnel and volunteers working with children are screened, briefed and supervised. Images or stories involving children are published only with the informed consent of a parent or guardian, and never with details that could identify a child's location.

Community consent

We work at the invitation of communities. Before recording language material, photographing people or publishing stories, we explain how the material will be used and obtain consent. Consent may be withdrawn, and we will remove published material on request wherever we are able.

Cultural respect

Indigenous languages, oral traditions and community knowledge belong to the communities that carry them. We do not portray any culture as deficient, and we do not use language or imagery that presents communities as objects of pity.

Ethical storytelling

We publish what we can verify. We do not invent testimonies, exaggerate outcomes, or present staged scenes as documentary. Where a figure or story has not been confirmed for publication, it is shown as a placeholder rather than estimated or embellished.

Responsible use of images and audio

Photographs, video and audio recordings are used only for the purposes explained at the time of collection. Sensitive location information is withheld where publishing it could put a community or individual at risk.

Personal information submitted through this website is stored securely with restricted access and is never sold or shared for marketing. See our privacy policy for details.
